MEET MALLORY

Mallory Norman is a self-taught artist specializing in hand-cut paper and fabric art. Her path to becoming an artist was anything but straightforward. Art was never part of her plan. After earning a degree in accounting from Auburn University, she entered the corporate world, where she spent years working in a structured environment.

In 2020, amidst the chaos of the world, Mallory found herself seeking a creative outlet to escape the relentless demands of her job. What started as a small hobby quickly turned into more, offering her a renewed sense of purpose. For several years, Mallory balanced a full-time job with what had now become a side hustle.

Knowing she couldn’t afford to leave her corporate job, Mallory came to peace with art being a hobby. Then, in 2024, life took an unexpected turn. God stepped in to do for Mallory what she felt she couldn't do for herself — pulling the stability rug from under her. This setback became the catalyst for something extraordinary. Through prayer, faith, and encouragement from loved ones, Mallory decided to pursue art full-time.

Today, Mallory lives in Columbus, Georgia, with her husband, Sam, and their Goldendoodle, Louis. Her story is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of following one’s passion, no matter how unconventional the journey.

BEHIND THE ART

I work with paper and fabric, materials that are often overlooked or scrapped. I begin with an idea that is planted in my heart, a pair of scissors, and a piece of paper or fabric. I don’t follow an outline or use a template. Layer by layer, I hand-cut each detail, placing, assembling, and refining it until they come together, and it feels like a complete work of art.

With a background in accounting, I am drawn to precision and order. I find that my process combines these qualities while also giving me room for creativity and freedom. I never have a plan, because sometimes my best pieces aren’t what I had in mind.

Each piece takes hours, demanding patience and trust, but drawing me in, quieting the outside noise and teaching me to let go of control.

Rooted in faith and a strong belief in transformation, my story is full of layers that have gradually come together to reveal my true calling. My art reflects this journey, serving as a reminder that each layer contributes to something greater.

I want my art to inspire people to find joy in everyday moments, whether good or bad, and to see the ordinary as an opportunity to create something extraordinary.
